About this model

This is an untested design, not a proven print. Fit, clearances, tolerances and print behaviour have not been checked on a real printer, and nothing here promises that printed parts turn freely. Test a small print first. A three-gear chain souvenir showing a 1:1:1 gear ratio (20T/20T/20T spur gears, module 2, 8 mm wide). Each gear sits on its own shaft in a back plate and plinth, with a red crank pin on the first gear. All three gears have 20 teeth. The middle gear is an idler: it changes nothing about the speed, but it makes the last gear turn the same way as the crank. How it turns: gears have a 3.0 mm bore radius on 2.8 mm radius shafts, about 0.2 mm radial clearance, and a thin disc on each shaft end keeps the gear on.
