About this model

A simple, fully parametric thumb turn for standard hex-head bolts. The design wraps around the bolt head to make it much easier and more comfortable to tighten or loosen by hand. The gently concave sides provide extra grip, while the unusual odd-numbered shape gives it a distinctive look. The included OpenSCAD file lets you customise: Bolt thread diameter Bolt-head size across the flats Bolt-head depth Fit clearance Overall knob size Concavity of the sides The number of sides is generated automatically from the bolt-head size and is always rounded up to an odd number. The default overall width is three times the bolt-head size, while the total height is twice the bolt-head depth. The hexagonal recess is accessed from underneath, leaving a clean, closed top.
