About this model

An orbital shaker platform for building up yeast from a single colony or slant. It works for keeping yeast in suspension in a centrifuge tube or small flask. An orbital shaker is better at CO2 exchange than a stir bar. It is based on a design by The Scripps Research Molecular Screening Center at the University of Florida (which in turn was based on a design by the ProgressTH Applied Technology Lab in Bangkok, Thailand). I made quite a few changes: - I re-did the Fusion 360 CAD design and made it parametric. You can specify the width and depth and it generates all the necessary components to size - Increased the size to accommodate a 1L flask - Got rid of the separate on-off switch and used a potentiometer with an attached switch - Designed a printed retainer for the power coupler rather th…
