About this model

This is an EAF focuser adapted to my Crayford focuser (see Is is based on an RP2040 microcontroler. It comes with an absolute position encoder and a temperature sensor. It is steered with a very cheap 28BYJ48 stepper motor. Big advantage of this motor is its mass and its huge torque. Backlash is neutralised thanks to the encoder... To avoid efforts on the poor 28BYJ48 motor, 2 ball bearings (13x5) salvaged from an old HD disk are installed in the support holding a piece of 5mm rod used as axis at the tip of the motor's gear. a 96 teeth gear is installed on the axis of the focuser and replaces the genuine knob. see it running on youtube :
