About this model
This coral like form is the result of a simulation of dendritic solidification, a type of crystal growth occurring in supercooled solutions of certain metal alloys. You can see a video of the simulation running here: This is our second attempt at making a dendritic sculpture appropriate for printing on a home 3d-printer. And I think it came out quite a bit better this time! I've provided the piece in two sizes for printing, one is about 4 inches and the other 5 inches.
