About this model
Drop Spindles - Three sizes and OpenSCAD source. Turkish style drop spindle for spinning yarn from fleece. Our smoothest results come from printing a pair of the wings together, then a stick on its own. You can also easily sand down any lumps or bumps if you want to do a batch lot of sticks. If a stick is broken, removing it and inserting a new one with an existing spinning project on it works out fine. For the best winding of the cob the pattern is under one arm, over two. The smallest size is great for novelty or spinning thread-thin. The largest spindle shown is the %125 and good for plying, but is much heavier than the %100 Thanks To my expert spinning daughter _Jenny Sutherland_ who helped refine the design with her deeper spinning knowledge.
