About this model
My design for a small corvette sized ship for the Royal Navy. My thinking is these would complement the new Type 31 frigates in detached duties around the world while providing a more capable alternative/replacement of the River class OPVs. Relatively modestly armed, the majority of the systems are aimed at self defence rather than offensive operations. Equipped with a main gun and two smaller models I’d imagine these would provide cover against incoming small/low end suicide drones (both sea and air based) with SeaRAM providing a more robust air defence layer. 8 Naval Strike Missiles canisters above the hanger provide the punch for the ship. The class comes with a large helipad and good sized hanger but I’d imagine it would rarely deploy with a manned helicopter. The space would be used f…
