About this model
Continuing my series of steam turbine rotors, this is a fairly detailed 1:18 scale model of a nuclear low pressure steam turbine rotor. Print the number of each part specified on the drawing. The L-0 disks will require supports. Glue the L-1 and L-2 blades onto the hubs - this requires some clamping. Then glue all stages together in the order shown on the drawing. The L-0 blades are pinned onto the hubs using 1.75 mm filament pieces. I found the best way to make the pins was to make excessively long pins, install the blades/pins, then trim the pins flush with diagonal cutters. You will likely need to drill out all the pin holes in the blades and hub - a #50 drill bit works well. The pins need to fit relatively snugly to make sure they don't fall out.
