Doomguys and Doomgals! You’ve made it to the lair of the loathsome Spiderdemon who masterminded the invasion of the Phobos and Deimos moon bases. More commonly known as the Spider Mastermind, this scion of hell debuted as the end boss in the 1993 game DOOM. Now it’s back as a 3D printable model, complete with textures so you can print it in full colour. The original monster was the creation of Greg Punchatz, who sculpted a poseable puppet based on drawings by id Software’s Kevin Cloud. This was then photographed from various angles and made into a sprite sheet that rendered in the game. My model was based on the sprites, so some artistic license was taken to re-interpret the low resolution images in 3D form.
