Toroidal Turbine Desktop Fan So here is that massively over-engineered, easy to build, super quiet little desktop fan you have been waiting for. I am not in drone design, but still wanted to play around with that MIT toroidal propeller design everyone is talking about. So here is my take on the use of toroidal blades (for everyday life - at least once it gets a little warmer outside). The fan can be powered directly from USB or using a separate (preferably 9V) power supply (which is what I ended up doing as it gives you a little more power). All you need is one of these - 3-9V miniature motors (approx. USD 2) and either an old USB cable OR a - 9V power supply (approx. USD 7) or any old power supply (5-9V) you have lying around.
