A project box for holding these common voltage step-down (buck) modules. LM2596 is an inexpensive standard module made by a number of manufacturers. Typically 3.0-40V input and 1.5-35V output, but exact specs depend on the module. Widely available on Amazon and elsewhere, they are approximately $2 each. I believe XL6009 step-up/step-down (buck/boost) converters will also fit, but I don't have one to check.
