This might be required of filaments with a lower tolorance (eg. 1.75mm +/-0.05mm as opposed to brands like sunlu which has a +/- of 0.02mm tolorance) or filament thats not properly calibrated (over extrusion will make it tight, under extrusion will make it loose). Great for anything that you pack away where you dont want the prongs getting damaged or bent. Also prevents the metal prongs from scratching other bits of equipment.
