UPDATE: Well, I’ve successfully caught a few mice with this trap, but yesterday something unexpected happened! Either I caught a little Houdini mouse that somehow managed to escape, or my dog decided to intervene and set it free. That led me to make an improvement to the design. I’ve updated the trap to incorporate two 8 × 2 mm magnets that securely lock the trap in the down position once triggered. This prevents the trap from lifting back up after the mouse enters, helping ensure our little escape artists stay safely contained until they can be released. ———— Everyone is always trying to build a better mousetrap!
