About this model
Estes Astrocam rocket replacement fin. Original fin was warped causing the rocket to spin along the long axis resulting in the camera video recording the launch site to be virtually unusable. Estes does not sell or offer a replacement fin and I could not find anyone who did. Attempts at straightening the fin only made things worse, so, this was my third print ever (after the block and dodecahedron to test & learn the printer) of my 3D printing journey. Design is sound but refinements in printer setting would improve overall appearance and smoothness. Printed on Flashforge Adventure 5M Pro using PLA. Printed standing up to prevent supports ruining the fin surface. Estes did offer to sell me the Estes Cosmic Cargo rocket at a discount since it uses the same fin and is a less expensive rocket…
