About this model

Summary Every tile projects from the wall according to the mean annual air temperature over its area from the CHELSA V2.1 global climatology (1981–2010, Swiss Federal Institute WSL, released under CC0). Six temperature bands set both colour and projection: Polar Cold below −7 °C; Boreal Cool −7 °C to 2 °C; Temperate 2 °C to 8 °C; Warm 8 °C to 17 °C; Hot 17 °C to 24 °C; Tropical Heat from 24 °C upward. Height encodes temperature band, not elevation—this is a data relief, not terrain. Tiles use a variable Voronoi-like layout: smaller where temperature changes rapidly (mountain ranges, tropic edges, monsoon coasts) and larger across homogeneous interiors (deserts, rainforest, taiga). The panel shares its coastline and frame with the World Elevation, World Population and Earth at Night maps so…
