Design considerations: quick to connect - max 90deg turn required to connect or disconnect good seal - bevelled edges and mating surface with angled engagement points ensure that the seal is as good as possible without having to require rubber O-rings. clamp-less - the spiral threading on both ends ensures that these screw into the pipe securely without the need of compression clamps to maintain position. 3D printing: female end prints best with the flange side down and bridging settings enabled to get clean 45's for screw bevels.
