About this model
The battery cover and water tank cover screw heads on my Mk1 Audi TT were damaged to the point I could no longer easily undo them. The repair is in the form of a hex headed cap that is a press fit over the existing screw heads. Clean up the screws to remove dirt and grease and push the screw head into the cap, until the underside of the screw is flush with the top of the hole in the cap. I used an adjustable spanner to push it in squarely, see photo. I didn't need to use glue as it was quite a tight fit. The screw caps have quite a large underside area in contact with the battery/water tank cover, so they only need to be hand tight. Overtightening might pull the caps off or make them difficult to remove. May also fit other Audi's, the screw head size on the TT is 15.8mm diameter and 6.2mm …
