Both have the same objective: assemble six burr pieces into the configuration shown in the first photo. Enthusiasts of interlocking puzzles will recognize this shape as the standard six-piece burr assembly, featured in many other puzzles, such as the Starter Burr Set. _Dudd_ and _Missing Notches_ have a twist, though: the pieces have confusing diagonal cuts that make the assembly very tricky and unusual. Coffin wrote: "The name _Dudd_ is perhaps misleading (as well as being misspelled). The idea for this puzzle came from a similar one that Bill Cutler designed many years earlier.
