About this model
Levanger is a midsize town on the Trondheimfjord in Mid Norway. Visitors to Norway will usually pass by the town on the E6 main road on their way to the far North and will not be aware that there is a true architectural gem located here: the Levanger railway station. Levanger station was built in 1902 when the railway line along the Trondheimfjord was constructed. Most small station buildings in Norway are wooden constructions, wood was and still is a very popular building material throughout Scandinavia. But Levanger station is a brick and stone building. The reason may be that Levanger experienced a major fire that destroyed a good part of the town just a few years before the railway construction, and that may have been a motivation to use brick and stone for the (then) new station build…
