About this model
This is my design of a dual carriage system. I am using two electromagnets 12V 20N for picking up an extruder and for parking i disable the electromagnet so that the permanent magnet located in the X-axis (left and right side parts) holds the carriage in place. While parked the extruder does not ooze, because an aluminium plate closes the nozzle opening. STL and Solidworks part are included. Please see my youtube video for the carriages in action! Update: Electric scheme is based on this scheme (thanks to 3d-proto): Pay attention to the direction of diode D1 and D2 that are placed parallel to your electromagnets. Switching hotend fans with relays is optional of course.
