About this model

American delta-winged interceptors from 1956 and 1959, respectively. The machines were to hit Mach 1.25 and carry the new AIM-4 Falcon missile. The F-102, for example, was designed around its fire control system. However, the AIM-4 proved troublesome in service because it was impact-fused, rather than the VT fuse found on the AIM-9. The armament suite could be augmented by nuclear missiles, such as the AIM-26, for example. Power for both aircraft comes from a P&W jet engine developing between 52kN and 109kN of thrust. The armament consists of: F-102A: 24x 70mm rockets 6x AIM-4 missiles OR 3x AIM-4 missiles + 1x AIM-26 nuclear missile F-106A: 4x AIM-4 missiles 1x AIR-2A nuclear rocket OR 1x 20mm cannon (1972 Refit)
