About this model
This is a model of the movement in one of my favorite watches, a Jacob and Co. Astronomia. It seems that Jacob and Co never makes the exact same watch twice. There are almost as many variations of Astronomia watch, as there are pictures of it on the web. I based this model on the Astronomia watch in this video: Here is a time lapse version of the design: and a real-time video: Some Design Features: - A quartz movement drives the hands, so it can be used as an accurate clock. - There is a ‘hook slot’ in the back of the case so it can be easily hung on a wall (and used as a regular clock). - The carrier motors are powered by a USB charger. - A speed control knob allows the carrier speed to be synchronized with the escapement, because the speed of the plastic escapement (which limits the ca…
