After the Clanners deafeat at tukayyid, generals from house steiner had discussions about the time after the cease fire. What would happen? Wpuld the Clans stop the invasion or would it resume? What would the inner sphere have to stop the invasion should it resume? Would the scientists be able to reverse engineer enough clan tech to create weapons strong enough to defeat the clans or would they get overrun? Then the generals had an idea that had it's roots in a long gone war on ancient terra. Big guns on a cheap platform. A mech that can hammer away at range while other units draw fire. a mech that doesnt need to be too well armored but also doesn't require the newest tech to run.
