Going back to Southeast Asia for one of the landmarks of Chiang Rai, the capital of Thailand's northernmost province. Along with the famous White Temple and Wat Phra Kaew, the clock tower is the most iconic structure in the city, located in its center and used as reference or meeting point by locals. It was designed by renowned local artist Chalermchai Khositpipat, who is also the author of the White Temple, and unveiled in 2008 in honor of his late majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej (from Wikipedia).
