About this model
This Z Axis cap is hollow toward the top to allow your Z threaded rod to extend above your printer frame. During assembly, I made sure that my Z rod had a gap between it and the Z axis stepper motors to prevent any undesirable artifacts. A pair of these caps ensures that you have the necessary gap for isolation. This is a tight fit. I placed lubricant in the cap and manually moved the Z rods to ensure it turned freely before first use. I brought the Z axis up to about half way up the printer. I then loosened and re-tightened the grub screws connecting the z rods to make sure that the rods were as aligned as possible. Again make sure you leave an ample gap between the Z-stepper motors and the z rods.
