The Aachen Public Observatory was opened in 1935. It was severely damaged during the Second World War and restored after the war. The model shows the observatory as it appeared following the extensive renovation of the dome in 2003–2004. The observatory can be visited as part of guided tours. The model was built to a scale of 1:87 (H0). Die Volkssternwarte in Aachen wurde im Jahr 1935 eingeweiht. Im Zweiten Weltkrieg wurde sie stark beschädigt und nach dem Krieg wieder instandgesetzt. Das Modell zeigt den Zustand nach der umfangreichen Sanierung der Kuppel in den Jahren 2003/2004. Die Sternwarte kann im Rahmen von Führungen besucht werden.
