About this model
Summary Mech Hand V8 was developed as an improvement over Mech Hand V6. After building V6, I wanted the fingers to move with much more accurate position control, so I started experimenting with a completely different drive system. The biggest feature of V8 is that I installed servo potentiometers directly into the fingers. The potentiometers measure the actual position of each finger, and their feedback is used to control N20 screw motors, which drive the fingers. Because the position is measured directly at the finger itself, the movement is surprisingly precise. Compared with my previous designs, V8 can control the finger position with much greater accuracy.
