About this model
GM's projected successor to the FM-2 light carrier fighter, powered by the same engine and mounting the same 4x 12.7mm machine guns. Reached the mock-up stage before Grumman's own F8F made it unnecessary. The F8F replaced both the FM-2 and the F6F in U.S. Navy service; The F2M project was cancelled before any aircraft were built. GM was also supposed to license-build the F8F as the F3M, but nothing came out of that either.
