About this model
German prototype heavy bomber from 1919. Built too late to take part in WWI, but for a time it was the largest and heaviest airplane in the world. Two prototypes were built, but only one actually flew. The aircraft had six engines, all inside the fuselage. The four propellers were driven by a complex system of bevels, driveshafts, and gearboxes. All work on the project ceased due to the Treaty of Versailles, but had it entered service, it would've carried the heaviest bombload of its time. For comparison, its smaller cousin, the four-engined Zeppelin-Staaken R.VI (56 built) carried a bombload of 2,000kg.
